Hawkeyes Mic regular commentator Pat Harty is a sports reporter and columnist for the Iowa City Press-Citizen. He is originally from Des Moines and earned his journalism degree with a minor in advertising from Drake University in 1987. He was sports editor for the Northwest Iowa Review in Sheldon and a high school sports reporter for the Des Moines Register before coming to the Press-Citizen in 1991.
Pat has received numerous sports reporting awards, including being named the 2000 Sports Reporter of the Year by the Sportscasters and Sports Writers Association. Along with the entire sports staff at the Press-Citizen, he has received acclaim for coverage of the Iowa Hawkeyes.
Pat played basketball and baseball for Des Moines Dowling in high school. He loves '60s music, mountain biking, and is a Vietnam War buff. You can read Pat's reports and columns regularly at
