Steve Busalacchi - The Voice Guy

 

One of the "Voice Guys" for Hawkeyes Mic, Steve Busalacchi is an award winning journalist with 25 years of experience in media and public relations.  He recently formed his own health care communications firm – Steve Busalacchi Communications LLC – which offers a variety of media and consulting services (http://www.PRDRSteve.com).

Steve was Director of Public Relations for a statewide medical association for nine years. During that time he produced weekly radio programs on key healthcare issues that were broadcast across Wisconsin. These were also available on the organization’s website and were among the most sought after content. He also ghost-wrote dozens of newspaper columns which were also among the top pages hit on the site.
 
Steve was a broadcast producer, editor, and reporter for Wisconsin Public Radio from 1981-1997. He was WPR’s medical reporter for ten years during this time and was a frequent contributor to National Public Radio. He was described as one of WPR’s most prolific and acclaimed producers.
 
Steve has conducted numerous media training sessions for organizations and individuals, and from 1999 to 2004 he was also in charge of publicity for a CDC-funded grant for the Wisconsin Antibiotic Resistance Network.
 
Steve has received more than 25 awards from organizations such as the Public Relations Society of America – Madison Chapter, the Associated Press, American University, Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism, American Women in Radio and Television, the Wisconsin Broadcasters Association, the Northwest Broadcast News Association, and the Milwaukee Press Club.
 
Steve is also an author and has written two books: White Coat Wisdom: Extraordinary doctors talk about what they do, how they got there and why medicine is so much more than a job and Media Savy, Media Success.
 
Steve received his Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from the University of Wisconsin Madison. He and his wife Maureen reside in Madison, Wisconsin, with their two children.
